Message from the Fire Chief, Tony Rouhotas

Welcome to the City of Imperial's Fire Department webpage. The City of Imperial contracts with the Imperial County Fire Department for fire protection and prevention services. There are three fire captains, six firefighters and one deputy fire chief assigned to the city. We are an all-risk public safety agency.

Our services include: fire suppression, advanced life support, basic life support, fire prevention/safety education, consulting and fire investigative services; community disaster preparedness, hazardous materials response and mitigation, hazardous device response and rescue services.

The city engine company is located at 2514 La Brucherie Road, Imperial. The department has one new front line fire engine and one reserve fire engine. The department has an engine crew of three (3) on duty at all times. A Duty Fire Chief is assigned to supervise daily operational duties.

Mission:

The mission statement of the City of Imperial Fire Department is to enhance the quality of life, environment, and safety of our community in an atmosphere of courtesy, integrity, and quality service.

The organization has adopted the following goals to accomplish this mission:

  • To actively support the advancement of the fire and emergency services, which are dedicated to the protection and preservation of life and property of the citizens of the City of Imperial and the State of California against fire, storms, floods, earthquakes or other disasters.
  • To provide related services such as emergency medical care and other emergency and fire related services in the City of Imperial.
  • To provide leadership in emergency incident management, mutual aid and fire prevention planning.

Fire Prevention at Home
We want to help you PREVENT HOME FIRES

Take These Steps to Have a Fire-Safe Home!!!

  • Learn the common causes of home fires and burns.
  • Involve the whole family and check for hot spots.
  • Know how to correct fire and burn hazards quickly and safely.

Fire Safety Checklist

  • Install and maintain smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Keep 2A10BC multipurpose type fire extinguishers charged and ready to use. Know how to operate them properly.
  • Designate two exits from each room and a safe meeting place outside.
  • Make sure every family member knows how to escape from the house by crawling low in smoke.
  • Hold regular fire drills.
  • If a fire breaks out, get out fast and call the fire department from a neighbor's home.
  • If your clothes catch on fire, stop, drop, and roll to extinguish the flames.
  • Never go back into a burning building for any reason.
