State Route 111, which passes to the east of City of Imperial, is a major North, South corridor for the Nafta shipping and travel route to the Calexico Port of Entry at the U.S./Mexican International border. In the near future it will also connect to the Brawley, California bypass, Sr-86, and Interstate 10 to Los Angeles.
Approximately 8,000 to 12,000 vehicles per day currently travel various sections of SR-111. Traffic is projected to double during the next 20 years due to residential and commercial developments.
