Imperial Appoints New City Manager

On September 21, 2016 the City of Imperial held a Regular Meeting of the City Council. Following Closed Session, Mayor Douglas Cox announced that action had been taken by Council, in a 5-0 Vote, to approve the contract appointing Stefan Thomas Chatwin as the new City Manager for the City of Imperial.

Stefan Chatwin is a 1993 graduate of Brigham Young University.  Upon receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force serving for 6 years in various parts of the country and abroad.  In 1999, Stefan separated from the Air Force and spent the next 2 years in the library software and solutions industry developing business strategies and building strategic partnerships.  Although he enjoyed a measure of success in the business world, he always felt there was something missing in his career.  When an opportunity to serve as the Director of Community Services for the City of Ogden, Utah became available, he accepted the challenge and has never regretted that decision.  That experience led him to Santaquin, Utah where  he served as its City Manager for the next 4 ½ years followed by almost 7 years as the City Administrator for Hayden, Idaho.

Stefan is a member of ICMA and enjoys the challenges of helping to sustain and increase the quality of life in a community.  He is excited about this new opportunity with the City of Imperial and looks forward to working with the staff, elected officials, and citizens to continue moving Imperial in a positive direction. Mr. Chatwin plans to begin his term as City Manager on October 3, 2016.
