2018 5k Race on the Runway

The City of Imperial will be hosting our 4th Annual 5K On the Runway in conjunction with the Imperial County Aviation Day. The event will take place this Saturday, January 13, 2018. Drivers are enouraged to drive with caution in the highligthed areas of the route map. 


The City of Imperial would like to advise the public that beginning January 16, 2018 Myrtle Road, south of Aten Blvd, will be closed for construction. The closure is due to the Aten Sidewalk Phase 1 project. The goal of the project is to improve and beautify the area. The project is expected to last for three weeks. Residents and business owners will have access to Myrtle road from La Brucherie Avenue, Treshill and Wall Road(s). This section of Myrtle Road is scheduled to re-open February 6, 2018.

On Friday, December 8, 2017 during the annual Imperial Police Department uniform inspection, City Manager Stefan Chatwin announced that as of December 21, 2017 (pending Council Action) that Acting Deputy Chief Leonard J. Barra would become Chief of Police and Acting Deputy Chief Mario Luna would be promoted to Captain.

Road Work Ahead

IMPERIAL, CA: The City of Imperial has several road/pavement improvement projects scheduled to begin this week starting tomorrow, November 29, 2017. Drivers can expect delays in the following areas:

Aten Blvd: Vilore Way to Austin Road: November 29-December 8, 2017, pavement improvements;

Dogwood Road: Aten Blvd to South City Limit (Treshill Canal) Thursday November 30 – December 8, 2017, pavement improvements;

Community "Walk with Ease" Program

The City of Imperial Department of Community Services is happy to announce our new “Walk with Ease” community program. This program is part of a collaborative effort with the Arthritis Foundation. “This exercise program is believed to reduce pain and improve overall health.”The program will begin on November 27, 2017 and continue for six (6) weeks through January 3, 2018. Classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Spots are limited; individuals wanting to participate are encouraged to call (760) 355-3316 to register today.
