Did you know that the City Embarks on an Important Redevelopment Project? The City of Imperial has embarked on a very important project aimed to enhance Downtown Imperial. Led by the Downtown Redevelopment & Gateway Beautification Committees, the Downtown Imperial Redevelopment Master Plan will provide urban design guidelines for Downtown through a community-driven process.

The Committee has already met several times to brainstorm ideas for downtown, walk the site, and to engage in a hands-on design charrette to develop concepts for downtown's future land use, streetscape, circulation, and gateway features.

One month later the Downtown Redevelopment & Gateway Beautification Committee engaged in a Design Charrette to outline a land use concept for Downtown Imperial. Teams brainstormed a number of different topics including, circulation and streets, land use, and design details. The Committees and the hired consultant team are now in the process of preparing a draft of the Downtown Imperial Master Plan that incorporates the input and ideas to-date.

The Downtown Redevelopment & Gateway Beautification Committees is comprised of 23 members from the community, City Council, and City staff.
