The City of Imperial City Council is soliciting applications from residents of the City of Imperial to fulfill an unscheduled vacancy on the Imperial Valley Housing Authority (IVHA) Board of Commissioners.

Imperial Valley Housing Authority serves the community of Imperial County. Our unique geographical location blends the cultures of the United States and Mexico in a small town atmosphere. The Imperial Valley Housing Authority delivers high quality affordable housing solutions and promotes self-sufficiency for low-income residents of Imperial County. Through a core set of values: Integrity; Respect; Teamwork; Professionalism; Excellent customer service and Initiative, the Authority strives to be a recognized leader in leveraging resources to create affordable housing programs and opportunities that contribute positively to the Imperial Valley.

As a community stakeholder, the City of Imperial appoints to two individuals to serve in four-year increments on the IVHA Board of Commissioners. The IVHA Board of Commissioners are volunteer members of the community who give generously of their time to assist IVHA with reaching its goal to provide affordable housing solutions and advocating for housing opportunities for the low-income community.

You must be a resident of the City of Imperial and a registered voter of the city in order to serve on the Imperial Planning Commission. Interested applicants must complete and submit this form to the City Clerk by 4:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2023.

  1. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm at the IVHA Administrative Building, 1402 D Street, Brawley 
  2. Meetings are held once per month, no meeting during the month of July
  3. Unless the Board members volunteer to serve on a Committee to review and discuss a certain topic, there are no other commitments.
  4. Appointments are made solely by the respective City; cities select someone who best represents their city and its values. Most cities select a person who lives within their city.
  5. No compensation, our members graciously volunteer their time to our public agency.
  6. Each city and the County appoint two members to represent them to our Board.
  7. Terms are in increments of four years; unless the City is not satisfied with their appointment, they have sole discretion to remove and replace appointees.
