Parks & Recreation

The City of Imperial Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance of sixteen (16) neighborhood parks, the Imperial Transit Park, and landscapes and greenways. The Parks & Recreation Department’s mission is to preserve and improve the physical, social and economic health of Imperial neighborhoods by delivering inclusive, innovative and progressive recreational opportunities.

The Recreation Division provides a variety of programs, services and activities for Imperial residents. Activities include youth and senior activities to help foster a healthy, vibrant community. The Recreation Division is responsible for all signature special events in the City of Imperial. Staff plan and execute all events such as Imperial Market Days, Movies in the Park, Parade of Lights, and others. Sponsorships are solicited and acquired for all City events.

Anthony Lopez is currently the Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Imperial. As a long-time resident of Imperial County, Anthony brings over fifteen years’ experience to the Public Sector. He is very passionate about parks, and works to provide beautiful, natural areas that enhance the quality life for residents and visitors alike. Anthony’s goal is to offer a variety of opportunities for both active and passive forms of recreation and cultural activities to serve the needs of the community.
